The company currently has a portfolio of approximately 460 MWp of Solar PV power projects and is actively looking to add more high-quality projects to its portfolio with an aim to deliver sustainable solutions for the energy sector in the coming years. Establishment of Rising Sun Energy

Mr. Arunav Sharma established the Rising Sun Energy group in 2014 at the age of 25 years with an initial capital of INR 3,00,000

January to May 2016

Bid awarded for setting up 2 x 87.5 MWp Solar PV power projects

Post tie-up with initial investors, the group won the bid for setting up 2 x 87.5 MWp solar PV power projects in Bhadla Solar-park, Rajasthan, which is India’s biggest solar park. The PPAs for the projects were executed with NTPC Limited at a fixed tariff of Rs. 4.35 per unit for a period of 25 years. This was the second lowest tariff for solar PV power projects in India at that time

Mr. Arunav Sharma

Founder & CEO

Mr. Arunav Sharma is a first-generation entrepreneur and the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Rising Sun Energy. He started his career at an investment bank as a financial advisor in the infrastructure domain, wherein he developed a keen interest in the renewable energy sector. Accordingly, he started his own venture in the renewable energy sector to meet India’s energy demands. Over the years he has developed great expertise in the renewable energy sector and specialises in project identification, project conceptualisation, negotiation with local regulators, project execution and fund raising.

Mr. David Charles Brunt

Director

Mr. David Brunt has over 35 years of experience within the Oil & Gas and Renewables industries. He worked in the offshore oil industry from 1985 until 2013, starting his career with ConocoPhillips in a variety of international positions in operations, technology and major projects before moving on to work with Petroleum Geo-Services as Manager Development Projects in 1997. From November 2001 till April 2013, he held leading positions at Deepwater Composites, Aker Kvaerner Subsea and Fred. Olsen Production ASA. Mr. David moved into the Renewable Energy Industry in 2013 as Chief Executive Officer at Fred. Olsen Renewables AS. During his time with Fred Olsen, he led the development of its project portfolio, adding 10 wind farms totalling 728MW. He was subsequently appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Yinson’s Renewables Division in October 2019. 

Mr. Gareth Mark Swales

Director

Mr. Gareth Swales has more than 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and has held a number of senior-level positions in leading IPPs, public organisations and consultancy firms. Mr. Swales has a deep understanding of developing energy projects and has experience from origination to execution of different technologies across the renewable energy value chain. He currently sits on the board of Renewable UK, the UK’s leading Renewable Energy trade association.

Mr. Arjun Kapoor

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Arjun Kapoor is the Chief Financial Officer of Rising Sun Energy and has been associated with the company since its inception. Prior to joining Rising Sun Energy, he worked as a consultant in the advisory domain at EY India. As the CFO of RSE group, he is actively involved throughout the project lifecycle and manages various facets of project development including accounts and finance, internal and external stakeholder management, liasoning with lenders, insurance and legal matters, etc.

Mr. Pranaya Soman

Project Director

Mr. Pranaya Soman has a vast experience of over 36 years in various facets of the power sector projects from concept to commissioning stage. He has domain expertise of project construction, project management and contract & materials management functionalities. He has worked with NTPC for over 25 years and previously held the position as Vice Present in Lanco Infra Tech Limited for Anuppur 2 x 600MW Thermal Power Project.

Mr. Praful Khurana

Vice President, Finance

Mr. Praful Khurana has over 10 years of experience in Debt Syndication, Financial Advisory and Strategy Consulting in the Infrastructure Sector. He has experience of advising 20+ clients from varied domains including renewable power, urban transport, roads, railways and logistics and has carried out investment analysis/ project structuring for 10+ domains through detailed assessment of financial and business models.  At RSE, he is part of the corporate finance team and is responsible for undertaking various tasks pertaining to arranging external debt for the projects, assistance in commercial matters and evaluation of new opportunities.

Mr. Amar Singh Bisht

Chief General Manager, Finance & Accounts

Mr. Amar Singh Bisht is a qualified Chartered Accountant by profession. He has vast experience of over 9 years in the field of Finance & Accounts. He started his career in 2013 with G Singh & Co, a chartered accountant firm. During his 4 years tenor there he worked in areas like accounting, auditing, taxation, and income tax assessment.  At RSE, he is responsible for financial reporting, statutory compliance, matters related to Income Tax and also handles implementation of F&A ERP software  (Industrial & Financial Systems).

Mr. B S Dandona

GM, Commercial

Mr. B S Dandona has vast experience of over 50 years and has been associated with many reputed organizations such as Haryana state Electricity Board, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Infinite Computer Solutions (India), Utility Powertech Ltd. and National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. Over these years he was responsible for erection, Maintenance & distribution of transmission lines, designing of layout and cabling, planning systems & liasoning work, etc of fertiliser & power projects. As General Manager, Commercial at Rising Sun Energy Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Dandona is engaged in liasoning with NTPC and other stakeholders including CERC, RSDCL and Labour Department, Rajasthan.
